On August 25, CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Guangdong Provincial People's Government held the 2008' annual meeting of Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Award in Guangzhou city. The member of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee WANG Yang, vice secretary of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and governor HUANG Huahua, member of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of Guangzhou Municipal Committee ZHU Xiaodan and other leaders attended the meeting. In this meeting, SCBG's achievement "The characterization of quality attributes of harvested horticultural crops", presided by Professor JIANG Yueming, was conferred the first prize of Guandong Provincial Science and Technology Award.

It is reported that altogether 288 achievements won 2008' Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Award. Among them, one item won the special prize, 27 items the first prize, 89 items the second prize, and 171 items the third prize.
