On Apr. 7th-9th, Mr.Andreas Krug and Ms. Christian Grossheim, the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (Bundesamt für Naturschutz, BfN), companied by Prof. ZHAO Shidong and Prof. Dr. YU Xiubo of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS),, visited South China Botanical Garden (SCBG), CAS under the invitation of Prof.Dr. FU Shenglei, deputy director of SCBG and principal investigator of the Field of Environmental Degradation and Ecological Restoration of SCBG.

During the visit, Andreas Krug, Christian Grossheim and Zhao Shidong presented three academic reports, which were “Forest Managment in Germany - Reflection on History and Outlook on future Challenges”, “Forests and Climate Change - The German Contribution to REDD+”, and “Forests and Forestry in China---Current states, challenges and perspectives”, respectively. They also discussed more about forest management with colleagues from South China Agricultural University and SCBG. Moreover, they went to Baiyun Mountain of Guangzhoug, Dinghushan Forest Ecosystem Research Station and Heshan Hilly Land Interdisciplinary Experimental Research Station of SCBG for field observation accompanied by Fu Shenglei and some other researchers and graduates. By these chances, Fu communicated with them in more details about the on-going cooperation projects and further cooperation.
