Research Group of Vegetation and Landscape Ecology

The research works in this group are mainly on the structure, function and dynamics of important landscapes (i.e. island, town, mangrove and manmade forest) or ecosystems during the period of their degradation and restoration in the process of urbanization. At the present time, the main research items being carried through in this group included:

1) The comparability mechanism of forests distribute in different zone during its restoration;
2) colonization of native species at typical plantation in southern tropical region in China;
3) Phylogeography (conservation genetis) of rare and endangered plant species and implications for population restoration;
4) evaluation and simulation of ecosystems during its restoration;
5) Investigation on the vegetation in islands and implications for restoration, etc.
In addition, this research group also carried through the territorial ecological programming project.
